Steven Piereson, PharmD

Steven is a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident and a long way from his original home in Portland, Oregon. He worked there for many years at a non-profit organization dedicated to clinical HIV drug research and healthcare provider education, participating first-hand in the drug development process as science tackled an epidemic. His last role at his agency was manager of the Oregon AIDS Education & Training Center, a Ryan White funded program.

It was during these years that his passion for pharmacy incubated. He received his Doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Montana, the school he chose due to its small class size and welcome of non-traditional students. He is keenly interested in growing as a clinical pharmacist, ambulatory care, caring for underserved patients, the medical-home model and interdisciplinary care, public health, system improvement, and leadership opportunities. Steven searched the entire United States for residencies offered at FQHC sites and thus discovered PCHC. He is grateful for the opportunity, excited to learn, and looking forward to exploring Maine and “the other Portland”.
